Donate to the Food Bank + More news
From Andy at the Fox:
A number of you have contacted me asking if there is still away to donate the funds instead of receiving a refund. Why should Daily Bread Food Bank lose out after all?
Simply the write the word "Donate" on the back of your ticket, sign it and return to the location it was purchased.. For each ticket signed in this way, we will donate $7 to the Daily Bread Food Bank.
Canned goods can still be dropped off at the Fox and we'll make sure they get there as well.
Thanks for your support and understanding in this matter.
Hope to see you soon at the Fox.

There is another party this evening, but I don't want to get people into trouble. Links are on the event wall on Facebook and can be found with a quick search.

Torontoist: "An open-and-shut case of copyright law gone insane"
Torontoist has done a story on the cancellation of the screening at the Fox.
Full Story Here.
Those with an ear to the city's sci-fi rumblings (or a Facebook account) probably knew about the Fox Theatre's March 20 presentation of the BSG finale. For seven dollars, you got a ticket to a showing that roundly shamed your friend's gigantic 42 inch widescreen, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Daily Bread Food Bank. Of course, Torontoist would have been only too tickled to let you know about the screening earlier, except for one thing: within days of the press release landing in our inbox, NBC Universal, Battlestar Galactica's heavy-handed steward, promptly changed its mind.
Full Story Here.

Cancelled
From the Fox Theatre:
Dear BSG Fans,
Although we originally obtained approval from NBC Universal, the individual who provided this approval was not authorized to do so. When scheduling the finale at the theatre we were operating in good faith, believing that the rights had been properly cleared.
NBC Universal is not authorizing a public screening of the Battlestar Galactica finale. In screening the finale at the theatre, we would be in violation of copyright law and will be subject to legal action by NBC Universal.
We are deeply disappointed with this outcome. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.
Please inform anyone else who purchased a ticket that the screening is cancelled.
Refunds will be available at point of purchase starting Friday March 20th.
------------------------------------
I'd like to personally apologize for this - as far as I was aware, the situation had been sorted out. I hope everyone is able to enjoy the finale, wherever they end up for it.

The Buzz!
Thanks to Malene Arpe at the Star for the mention on her blog, Stargazing, which has an RSS feed for all you TV fans out there. Check it out!
Also, another mention in today's Star!
Also, looks like there's some plans for knitters leading up to the finale:
Come cast-on your very own cylon hat. Whip up one of these chunky hats ready to wear for the final episode airing March 20. Kits will be ready for purchase as of Tuesday, March 10th at a cost of $30.00 ( 3 balls Sulka, 1 ball Katia, 1 ball Online and a little purple stardust). If you are not likely to be able to come in until Friday the 13th (how appropriate?!?) then please give us a call or send an email to reserve a kit so we can have enough on hand!
How cool would it be to have a group of cylon hat wearing enthusiasts on the streetcar and at the theatre?
If you love to knit and NEED a Cylon hat (and who doesn't? Seriously?), check out the Purple Purl at 1162 Queen St. E.! All info is at:

Thanks to LJ user laurarey for the heads up!
